EXTINCTIONS CHOICE - Sycamore and Fruit
Stock Number  FPCOL28
EXTINCTIONS Choice

Name:   Macginitiea wyomingensis (Sycamore)
Age:  Eocene
Formation:  Green River Formation
Location:  Douglas Pass, Colorado
Size:  Sycamore leaf is almost 6 inches tall

This is an excellent pair of plant fossils. It is a beautiful Macginitiea wyomingensis (Sycamore) leaf and fruit from the Green River Formation of Colorado. The Sycamore leaf is wonderfully complete - all five lobes of the leaf are present and beautifully displayed. The entire margins of the leaf are easily seen, and the venation is clearly defined. An extremely long petiole is still tightly attached to the base of the leaf. The sycamore "ball" is also extremely detailed. The natural, dark-brown color of the fossils contrasts strikingly with the lighter-colored matrix. The Sycamore fossils are well showcased on the large, rectangular plate of shale that also contains a Cardiospermum coloradensis (Balloon Vine) leaf at the top. This is a very collectible and displayable specimen of a classic Sycamore leaf and fruit preserved together forever.
