This is a beautiful plant fossil. It is a fossil Fern Frond from the famous Mazon Creek fauna of Illinois. This specimen was found in a new locality in Grundy County, Illinois. This fern is preserved in a concretionary matrix, giving it excellent color and detail. The striking white and chocolate brown coloration is fully natural, and the minute detail is exquisite. The fern is wonderfully showcased in the center of the nodule, and both halves of the split pair concretion are present. This is a very collectible plant fossil from a new Mazon Creek locality.
