Large Poplar Leaf with Very Long Petiole
Stock Number  FPUPO19

Name:   Populus wilmattae (Poplar Leaf)
Age:  Eocene
Formation:  Green River Formation
Location:  Bonanza, Utah
Size:  Leaf is 5 inches long including petiole

This is a very attractive fossil leaf. It is a
large leaf of Populus wilmattae, a Poplar, from the Green River Formation of Utah. This heart-shaped leaf has a somewhat rounded base and a long acuminate apex. The venation of the leaf is quite distinct and easily seen. The extremely long petiole is still tightly attached to the base of the leaf. The fossil has excellent, natural color and contrast and is well centered on the somewhat rectangular plate of matrix. This is a very displayable specimen of a Poplar leaf from Utah.
