EXTINCTIONS CHOICE - Rare Sterculia Leaf
Stock Number  FPUXX10
EXTINCTIONS Choice

Name:   Sterculia coloradensis and Others
Age:  Eocene
Formation:  Green River Formation
Location:  Bonanza, Utah
Size:  Sterculia is 4.1 inches wide

This is an extremely scarce leaf. It is a large Sterculia coloradensis leaf from the Eocene of Utah. This distinctive leaf has three long, pointed lobes - one lobe appears to be partially bug-eaten! The long petiole is still tightly attached to the leaf. There is also a nice Allophylus flexifolia and a complete Mimosites coloradensis (small, near the top) preserved on the large plate. The fossil plants have great color and contrast and are well positioned on the natural plate of shale. This is only the third specimen of this very unusual Sterculia leaf that we have ever seen.
