This is a rare fossil leaf from a very unusual locality. It is a large Ginkgoites leaf from Siberia, Russia. This Lower Cretaceous Ginkgo leaf is very well preserved and finely detailed - the distinct venated ribbing is easily seen under magnification. The body of the leaf in nicely intact, and the long petiole is also preserved. The leaf has great natural color and displays beautifully on the brick-red matrix. This is an exremely hard-to-find leaf from this very obscure location.
