EXTINCTIONS CHOICE - Sycamore and Willow
Stock Number  FPCOLX2
EXTINCTIONS Choice

Name:   Macginitiea wyomingensis, Salix cockerelli
Age:  Eocene
Formation:  Green River Formation
Location:  Douglas Pass, Colorado
Size:  Sycamore is 4.3", Willow is 6.6"

This is an excellent pair of fossil leaves. It is a beautiful Macginitiea wyomingensis (Sycamore) leaf and a huge Salix cockerelli (Willow) leaf from the Green River Formation of Colorado. The Sycamore leaf is wonderfully complete - all five lobes of the leaf are present and beautifully displayed. The entire margins of the leaf are easily seen, and the venation is clearly defined. An extremely long petiole is still tightly attached to the base of the leaf. The Willow leaf is also complete to the tip and quite detailed. The natural, dark-brown color of the leaves contrasts strikingly with the lighter-colored matrix. The fossils are well showcased on the large, rectangular plate of shale. This is a very collectible and displayable specimen of a five-lobed Sycamore leaf and a huge Willow leaf preserved together forever.
