This is a very interesting multiple leaf plate from the Eocene of Utah. The large leaf in the middle of the plate is Macginitiea wyomingensis, a sycamore. This leaf displays the five lobes typical of this species. The venation is very distinct. A long petiole is attached to the leaf. The specimen at the top is Salix cockerelli, a willow. This specimen also displays fine venation. A fossil beetle is present on the slab, located directly above the willow leaf. Also, there are a number of well-preserved fossil mosquitoes located around the leaves. This is a very intriguing plate of fossil leaves and insects.
