Large, Four-Lobed Sycamore from Colorado
Stock Number  FPCOL25
EXTINCTIONS Choice

Name:   Macginitiea wyomingensis (Sycamore Leaf)
Age:  Eocene
Formation:  Green River Formation
Location:  Douglas Pass, Colorado
Size:  Leaf is almost 6 inches long

This is an unusual fossil leaf. It is a large Macginitiea wyomingensis, a Sycamore, from the Eocene of Colorado. This leaf only has four lobes intact - this is fully natural and quite unusual. The coarsely serrated margins of the leaf are beautifully displayed, and the venation is very distinct. A long petiole is still tightly attached to the base of the leaf. The outstanding coloration of the leaf is also totally natural - no paint or coloring has been added. The dark-colored fossil contrasts exquisitely with the light-colored matrix. The leaf is well centered on the somewhat rectangular plate. This is an excellent example of a large fossil Sycamore leaf from the Green River Formation of Colorado.

This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally.
