Fossil Seed Fern

Location: Johnson County, Missouri
Size: Concretion is about 3 inches long
Here is a very nice siderite concretion from the Pennsylvanian of Missouri. The nodule contains two long fronds of an extinct seed fern. Both halves of the concretion are present, which is somewhat unusual. The fossils have great natural color and outstanding contrast. The ferns have very fine detail preserved. This is a very pretty split pair of fossil seed ferns.
