Otozamites feistmantelli
Age: Jurassic
Formation: Durakai Formation
Location: Queensland, Australia
Size: Plate is 2.8" X 3.5"
Here is a very uncommon fossil plant from the Jurassic of Australia. A few long fronds of Otozamites feistmantelli are preserved on the slab. Although this plant somewhat resembles a fossil fern, these are actually rare cycad fronds. The fronds exhibits fine detail - the individual leaflets are very distinct and easily seen. The gorgeous yellowish-orange coloration of the fossil is totally natural, and the plant contrasts beautifully with the purplish-maroon matrix. This is a striking example of a ''Dinosaur Salad'' Jurassic cycad.
