Name:
Metasequoia Branch
Age: Eocene
Formation: Klondike Mountain Formation
Location: Ferry County, Washington
Size: Branch is 3.8 inches long
This is a very aesthetic specimen of Metasequoia occidentalis from Washington State. This specimen was acquired from a major fossil plant collection. The fossil is unique in the fact that it shows a multi-branching frond. The fossil has great color and wonderful contrast. The branch is well centered on a natural plate of matrix that has been broken, but a Metasequoia branch this complete is extremely rare. This is a superb specimen of ''dawn redwood'' from a major collection.
