Location: Douglas Pass, Colorado
Size: Leaf is 5.8" long including petiole
This is a very pretty fossil leaf. It is a large Allophylus flexifolia from the Eocene of Colorado. This leaf is extremely well preserved and exhibits fine detail. This ovate leaf has an asymmetrical base and slightly undulating margins which are beautifully displayed on this specimen. The venation of the leaf is very clearly defined, and the petiole is quite distinct. The fossil has outstanding color and contrast and is wonderfully centered on the rectangular plate of shale. This is an excellent example of an Allophylus leaf from Colorado.
