EXTINCTIONS CHOICE - Serrated Sycamore
Stock Number  FPUPW18
EXTINCTIONS Choice

Name:   Macginitiea wyomingensis (Sycamore Leaf)
Age:  Eocene
Formation:  Green River Formation
Location:  Bonanza, Utah
Size:  Leaf is 5.6 inches long, 5.3 inches wide

This is an excellent fossil leaf. It is a beautiful Macginitiea wyomingensis (Sycamore) leaf from the Green River Formation of Utah. This leaf is amazingly complete - all five lobes of the leaf are present and wonderfully displayed. The serrated margins of the leaf are easily seen, and the venation is clearly defined. An extremely long petiole is still tightly attached to the base of the leaf. The natural, dark-brown color of the leaf contrasts strikingly with the lighter-colored matrix. The large fossil is well centered on the squared plate of shale. This is a very displayable specimen of an unusual, serrated Sycamore leaf from the Eocene.
