Large Allophylus Leaf with Long Petiole
Stock Number  FA1205033

Name:   Allophylus flexifolia
Age:  Eocene
Formation:  Green River Formation
Location:  Douglass Pass, Colorado
Size:  Leaf is 5.6'' long including petiole

This is a large fossil leaf. It is a fine Allophylus flexifolia leaf from the Eocene of Colorado. This leaf has an asymmetrical base and slightly serrated margins. The body of the leaf is easily seen, and the petiole is still tightly attached to the base of the leaf. The leaf has good natural color and contrast and is almost perfectly centered on the rectangular plate of shale. A portion of the margin was eaten by bugs, which gives the leaf its distinct look. This is a very displayable example of an Allophylus leaf from the Green River Formation.
