EXTINCTIONS CHOICE - Fine Sycamore Leaf
Stock Number  FPUPW17
EXTINCTIONS Choice

Name:   Platanus wyomingensis (Sycamore Leaf)
Age:  Eocene
Formation:  Green River Formation
Location:  Bonanza, Utah
Size:  Leaf is 3.7 inches long including petiole

This is an excellent fossil leaf. It is a beautiful Platanus wyomingensis (Sycamore) leaf from the Green River Formation of Utah. This leaf is amazingly complete - all five lobes of the leaf are present and wonderfully displayed. The entire margins of the leaf are easily seen, and the venation is clearly defined. An extremely long, complete petiole is still tightly attached to the base of the leaf. The natural, dark-brown color of the leaf contrasts strikingly with the lighter-colored matrix. The fossil is well centered on the natural, rectangular plate of shale. And there are even two mosquitoes preserved on the back side of the plate! This is a very displayable specimen of a complete Sycamore leaf from the Eocene.
