Two Gorgeous Leaves On Large Plate
Stock Number  FPUPC03

Name:   Populus cinnamomoides & Salix cockerelli
Age:  Eocene
Formation:  Green River Formation
Location:  Bonanza, Utah
Size:  Leaves are 3.1" and 5.1" long

Here is a very "clean" plate of fossil leaves from the Eocene of Utah. There are two different types of leaves aesthetically displayed on this plate. The leaf on the left side of the slab is a gorgeous example of Populus cinnamomoides. This lance-shaped leaf has dentate margins and is complete to the very tip. The venation of this leaf is absolutely incredible - even the tertiary venation is easily visible to the naked eye. The petiole is still attached to the leaf. On the right side of the plate is a wonderful specimen of Salix cockerelli, a willow. This long, linear leaf has entire margins and weak venation, typical of the species. This leaf still retains the complete petiole. The fossils have excellent color and contrast. They are beautifully positioned on the large, semi-rectangular plate of shale. This is a very displayable plate of two different fossil leaves from the Green River Formation.
