This is a gorgeous fossil leaf. It is a complete Zelkova nervosa (Keaki Tree) leaf from the Green River Formation of Utah. This lance-shaped leaf is fully Intact and exhibits wonderful detail. The serrated margins of the leaf are beautifully displayed, and the venation is just spectacular. The short petiole is still tightly attached to the base of the leaf. The fossil leaf has great color and contrast and is almost perfectly centered on the rectangular plate of shale. There are also several fossil insects on the back side of the slab. This is a striking example of a Zelkova leaf from the Eocene.
