Beautiful Sycamore Leaf with Mimosites Branch
Stock Number  FPUPW16

Name:   Platanus wyomingensis (Sycamore Leaf)
Age:  Eocene
Formation:  Green River Formation
Location:  Bonanza, Utah
Size:  Plate is 4.8" X 7.6"

This is an excellent fossil leaf. It is a beautiful Platanus wyomingensis (Sycamore) leaf from the Green River Formation of Utah. This leaf is wonderfully complete - all five lobes of the leaf are present and beautifully displayed. The entire (slightly serrated in places) margins of the leaf are easily seen, and the venation is clearly defined. An extremely long, complete petiole is still tightly attached to the base of the leaf. The natural, dark-brown color of the leaf contrasts strikingly with the lighter-colored matrix. The fossil is well centered on the rectangular plate of shale that also contains a very detailed Mimosites branch. This is a very displayable specimen of a five-lobed Sycamore leaf from the Eocene.
