Here is a very attractive fossil plant. This is a large grouping of branches from an ancient Sequoia sp. (Redwood). Under magnification, the detail of this plant fossil is outstanding. The individual leaflets along the branches are wonderfully displayed. The dark brown color of the fossil plants contrasts beautifully with the pinkish-brown matrix. The fossils are well centered on the large, rectangular plate of shale. This is an excellent specimen of fossilized Sequoia foliage from Montana.
