EXTINCTIONS CHOICE - Large Sycamore Leaf
Stock Number  FPUPW14
EXTINCTIONS Choice

Name:   Platanus wyomingensis (Sycamore)
Age:  Eocene
Formation:  Green River Formation
Location:  Bonanza, Utah
Size:  Leaf is 6.2'' long including petiole

This is an excellent fossil leaf. It is a large Platanus wyomingensis, a Sycamore, leaf from the Eocene of Utah. This leaf is wonderfully complete - all five lobes are present and beautifully displayed. The entire to slightly serrated margins of the leaf are easily seen, and the venation is clearly defined. Even the tertiary venation is quite evident. A long, slightly curving petiole is still tightly attached to the base of the leaf. The natural, dark-brown color of the fossil contrasts well with the light-colored matrix. The leaf is almost perfectly centered on the squared plate of shale. This is a gorgeous specimen of a Sycamore leaf from the Green River Formation.
