Beautiful Hackberry Leaf With Great Color
Stock Number  FPUCE08

Name:   Celtis mccoshii (Hackberry Leaf)
Age:  Eocene
Formation:  Green River Formation
Location:  Bonanza, Utah
Size:  Leaf is 2.1'' long including petiole

Here is a beautiful specimen of Celtis mccoshii, a Hackberry leaf, from the Eocene of Utah. This lance-shaped leaf exhibits outstanding detail. The serrated margins of the leaf are quite distinct, and the thin petiole is still tightly attached to the base of the leaf. The venation of the leaf is just spectacular - even the tertiary venation is wonderfully displayed. The fossil leaf has gorgeous color and contrast and is well presented on the natural plate of shale. This is an extremely detailed example of a Hackberry leaf from the Green River Formation.
