Large Multiple Leaf Plate From Colorado
Stock Number  FPCMU01

Name:   See Description
Age:  Eocene
Formation:  Green River Formation
Location:  Douglas Pass, Colorado
Size:  Plate is 7.6'' X 15.2''

Here is a very large plate of fossil leaves from the Green River Formation of Colorado. There are at least six different leaves on the plate. In the upper left corner of the slab is an excellent Allophylus flexifolia. Directly below the Allophylus is a rare Gymnocladus hesperia. A large Juglans (Walnut) leaf is in the middle of the plate. This leaf is extremely uncommon from this site. Two Ulmus (Elm) leaves are closely associated with the Walnut leaf. The multi-lobed leaf on the right side of the plate is Platanus wyomingensis, a Sycamore, while the long, linear leaf is Salix cockerelli, a Willow. All of the leaves still have the petioles attached and exhibit fine detail. The venation of the leaves is quite evident. The fossils have great color and contrast and are nicely presented on the rectangular plate of shale. This is a very displayable plate of fossil leaves from the Eocene.
