This is a beautiful plant fossil from an unusual location. It is a Sandinopsis sp. from the Cretaceous of Lebanon. This palm-like plant specimen has three, very distinct, long lobes that terminate in sharp points. The entire margins of the lobes are wonderfully displayed, and the extremely stout petiole is easily seen. The fossil has excellent color and contrast and is beautifully centered on the rectangular plate of sublithographic limestone. This is a great example of this tropical-looking plant from the time of the dinosaurs.
