Very Detailed Zelkova Leaf From The Eocene
Stock Number  FPUZE05

Name:   Zelkova nervosa
Age:  Eocene
Formation:  Green River Formation
Location:  Bonanza, Utah
Size:  Leaf is 2.75'' long including petiole

This is a gorgeous fossil leaf. It is a large Zelkova nervosa (Keaki Tree) leaf from the Green River Formation of Utah. This lance-shaped leaf is complete and exhibits wonderful detail. The serrated margins of the leaf are beautifully displayed, and the venation is just spectacular. The short petiole is still tightly attached to the base of the leaf. The fossil leaf has great color and contrast and is almost perfectly centered on the natural plate of shale. There are also several fossil insects (of different types) on the back side of the slab. This is a striking example of a Zelkova leaf from the Eocene.
