Here is a very nice specimen of Annularia sp. from the Pennsylvanian of Missouri. This fossil plant is well preserved in a concretion. Both halves of the concretion are intact, so both part and counterpart of the fossil are present. Annularia represent the leaf whorls found at the nodes of the Calamites plant. This specimen shows the central stem and two distinct leaf whorls. The long, spatulate-shaped leaves are beautifully displayed. The fossil plant has great color and contrast and is wonderfully centered in the concretion. This is a fine example of Annularia sp. from the Coal Age of Missouri.
