Long Willow Leaf From The Eocene Of Utah
Stock Number  FPUSA09

Name:   Salix cockerelli
Age:  Eocene
Formation:  Green River Formation
Location:  Bonanza, Utah
Size:  Leaf is 4.8" long including petiole

This is a very nice example of Salix cockerelli, a willow leaf, from the Eocene of Utah. This long, lance-shaped leaf exhibits fine detail. The finely-toothed margins are clearly defined, and the venation is easily seen. Even the tiny tip of the leaf is intact, which is somewhat unusual. The complete petiole is still tightly attached to the base of the leaf and is quite distinct. The fossil leaf has great color and contrast and is well centered on the somewhat rectangular plate of shale. This is a fine specimen of a willow leaf from the Green River Formation.
