Very Nice Tri-Lobed Sassafras Leaf
Stock Number  FPCA10

Name:   Sassafras sp.
Age:  Eocene
Formation:  Tranquille Shale
Location:  Cache Creek, British Columbia, Canada
Size:  Leaf is 1.35" long & 1.35" wide.

Here is a very unusual leaf. This is Sassafras sp. from the Eocene of Canada. This beautiful tri-lobed leaf exhibits fine detail. The venation of the leaf is nicely displayed. The orangish-brown colored fossil contrasts nicely with the tannish matrix. It is well positioned on the natural plate of shale. There is also a large partial leaf of a different type on the reverse side of the plate. This is a very nice example of an uncommon sassafras leaf.
