This is a large fossil seed fern from the Pennsylvanian. This gorgeous specimen was found in the fanous Mazon Creek area of Illinois. The fossil plant is preserved in a siderite concretion. Both halves of the concretion are present. This fossil exhibits wonderful detail. The fossil has an unusual color for this particular collecting area. The contrast of the fossil is exceptional. This is a very displayable specimen of a fossil seed fern in a concretion from a famous collecting site.
