Uncommon Maple Leaf From The Eocene Of Utah
Stock Number  FPUAC03

Name:   Acer lesquereuxi
Age:  Eocene
Formation:  Green River
Location:  Near Bonanza, Utah
Size:  Leaf is 4.0" wide and 4.5" long including petiole.

This is an excellent specimen of Acer lesquereuxi, a true maple. This leaf is from the Eocene of Utah. Maple leaves are very uncommon from this location. This specimen should not be confused with the more common Platanus or sycamore. All five lobes of the leaf are present. The leaf retains the long, complete petiole. The brown fossil contrasts nicely with the light-colored matrix. It is well positioned on the natural matrix block. This is a very pretty specimen of an unusual fossil maple leaf.
