Name:
Unidentified Legume Fruiting Body
Age: Eocene
Formation: Green River
Location: Near Bonanza, Utah
Size: Fruiting body is 1.6 inches long.
This is a great specimen of a fruit pod from some type of legume. This specimen is from the Eocene of Utah. The fossil looks like a "snap pea". This specimen even retains a portion of the stem. The fossil has great color and contrasts wonderfully with the lighter-colored matrix. The specimen is almost perfectly centered on the rectangular plate. This is an excellent example of a legume fruiting body from the Green River Formation.
