Very Striking Double Sumac Specimen
Stock Number  FPURH04

Name:   Rhus nigricans
Age:  Eocene
Formation:  Green River Formation
Location:  Bonanza, Utah
Size:  Larger leaf is 2.5 inches long

Here is a very nice multiple leaf specimen. Both of these leaves are Rhus nigricans, a sumac, from the Eocene of Utah. This type of leaf is very assymetrical and has a cuneate base. The margins of the leaves are extremely dentate and beautifully displayed. The dark leaves contrast nicely with the tannish matrix. They are well positioned on the natural block of shale. This is a great example of sumac leaves from the Green River Formation.
