Excellent Fossil Root (Stigmaria) and Fern
Stock Number  FPBPA03
EXTINCTIONS Choice

Name:   Stigmaria (Fossil Root)
Age:  Pennsylvanian
Formation:  Llewellyn
Location:  St. Clair, Pennsylvania
Size:  Root is 6 inches long

This is a great plant fossil. It is a large fossilized tree root (Stigmaria) from Pennsylvania. This specimen was found about 10 years ago. The root is over 6 inches long, and still has some of the rootlets intact. An added bonus is the other side of the plate, where there is a 7.5" long fern frond preserved! This is a textbook fossil plant specimen from the Pennsylvanian Period.
