Extremely Rare Catkin With Beetle Association From Utah
Stock Number  FPSU08

Name:   Unidentified Catkin
Age:  Eocene
Formation:  Green River
Location:  Near Bonanza, Utah
Size:  Catkin is 3.9 inches long.

Here is an extremely rare, unidentified, fossil catkin from the Green River Shale. A catkin is a drooping, scaly spike of small flowers without petals. This is a large specimen of a catkin that is extremely nice. A fossil beetle is present on the plate, very close to the catkin. A large, partial, Allophylus leaf is also present on the slab. The fossils have extremely nice, dark color and contrast wonderfully with the lighter-colored matrix. The fossils are well positioned on the rectangular plate of shale. This is a super specimen of a very rare fossil catkin.
