Pretty Sycamore Leaf With Great Venation
Stock Number  FPUPW03

Name:   Platanus wyomingensis
Age:  Eocene
Formation:  Green River
Location:  Near Bonanza, Utah
Size:  Leaf is 2.7 inches long including petiole.

This is a very pretty specimen of Platanus wyomingensis, a sycamore, from the Eocene of Utah. It is difficult to obtain Platanus leaves that are as complete as this specimen. This leaf is complete with all five lobes present. The venation on this specimen is very strongly pronounced. A long, stout petiole is attached to the leaf. The leaf has good color and contrast. It is well centered on a semi-rectangular block of shale. This is a very fine example of a fossil sycamore leaf.
