This is a large specimen of Allophylus flexifolia. This fossil leaf is from the Eocene of Colorado. The leaf has great color and superb contrast. It is almost perfectly centered on the rectangular block of shale. The venation of the leaf is very pronounced. The specimen shows the serrated margins very nicely. A short petiole is attached to the leaf. There is also a small Mimosites leaf present on the slab. This is a very displayable specimen of Allophylus from the Green River Formation.
