This is a very rare plant fossil. It is a fossil cone from the Cretaceous of Brazil. The cone exhibits excellent detail - the individual cone scales are easily seen under magnification. The long petiole (stem) is still tightly attached to the cone. The fossil plant has great color and contrast and is well positioned on the rectangular plate. This is the only specimen of this South American cone that we have ever seen.
