Very Distinct Populus cinnamomoides From Utah
Stock Number  FPUPC05

Name:   Populus cinnamomoides
Age:  Eocene
Formation:  Green River Formation
Location:  Bonanza, Utah
Size:  Leaf is 3.1" long including petiole

Here is a very attractive leaf. This is Populus cinnamomoides from the Eocene of Utah. This lance-shaped leaf exhibits great detail. The dentate margins are easily seen, and the venation of the leaf is well defined. The petiole is still tightly attached to the leaf. The brown color of the leaf contrasts nicely with the khaki-colored matrix. It is well centered on the natural plate of shale that also contains a piece of petrified wood. This is a fine specimen of Populus cinnamomoides from the Green River Formation.
