Here is a very nice specimen of Chamaecyparis sp. (cedar) from the Eocene of British Columbia. It is unusual to find this many branches still attached. This white cedar sprig exhibits fine detail. Under magnification, the individual scale-like leaves are easily seen. This fossil plant has wonderful color and contrast and is nicely centered on the natural plate of shale. This is a great example of fossil cedar foliage.
