Wonderful Canadian Leaf On Large Natural Plate
Stock Number  FPCA21
EXTINCTIONS Choice

Name:   Unidentified Leaf
Age:  Eocene
Formation:  Tranquille Shale
Location:  Cache Creek, British Columbia, Canada
Size:  Leaf is 4.4" long including petiole

This is a very displayable fossil leaf from the Eocene of British Columbia. This leaf is quite large and exhibits fine detail. This ovate leaf has a somewhat cuneate base and broadly dentate margins. The pinnate venation is easily seen, and the very tip of the leaf is unusually intact. The short, stout petiole is still attached. The brownish-black, carbonaceous fossil contrasts nicely with the lighter-colored matrix. The leaf is well centered on the natural plate of shale that also contains several other partial leaves. This is an excellent example of a large Eocene leaf from the Tranquille Shale.

This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally.
