Here is a nice specimen of a fossil seed fern from Illinois. The seed fern is preserved in a siderite concretion. When the concretion is broken open, the fossil is exposed. Both part and counterpart of the fossil are present. This seed fern exhibits fine detail. The fossil has good color and contrast. This is a good specimen of a fossil seed fern from the strip mines of Illinois.
