Name:
Mimosites coloradensis
Age: Eocene
Formation: Green River
Location: Bonanza, Utah
Size: Branch is 2.5 inches long
Here is an unusual example of Mimosites coloradensis from the Green River Shale of Utah. There are many, many leaves still attached to the branch! And, both part and counterpart of the plant fossil are present. The lance-shaped leaves of Mimosites are well defined. They have great color and contrast and are nicely positioned on both plates of shale. This is a very rare occurrence of Mimosites from the Eocene of Utah.
