Name:
Allophylus flexifolia
Age: Eocene
Formation: Green River Formation
Location: Bonanza, Utah
Size: Leaf is 5.3" including petiole
Here is a beautiful example of Allophylus flexifolia from the Green River Shale. This large leaf is complete to the very tip and exhibits fine detail. The undulate margins are intact and the somewhat weak venation of the leaf is easily seen. The short, stout petiole is complete and attached to the leaf. The fossil has great color and superb contrast. It is well centered on the semi-rectangular block of matrix. This is a wonderful specimen of a large Allophylus leaf from the Eocene of Utah.
