Pretty Annularia In Pennsylvanian Concretion
Stock Number  FPFMI23

Name:   Annularia sp.
Age:  Pennsylvanian
Formation:  Braidwood Formation
Location:  Johnson County, Missouri
Size:  Concretion is 1.8 inches long

Here is a very attractive specimen of Annularia sp. from the Pennsylvanian of Missouri. Annularia represent the leaf whorls found at the nodes of the Calamites plant. This fossil plant is extremely well preserved in a concretion. Both halves of the concretion are present so both part and counterpart are intact. The central stem of the plant is clearly defined and three distinct whorls of long, linear leaves are wonderfully displayed. The fossil has excellent color and contrast. This is a great example of Annularia from the Coal Age.
