Size: Seed Fern is 3.7 inches long.
This seed fern nodule was obtained from an old collection. This is the very tip of a large seed fern, Alethopteris sp., from the Pennsylvanian of Illinois. Both halves of the concretion are present. The individual leaflets are very large and nicely detailed. This is an interesting specimen from the original site at Mazon Creek in Illinois.
