Exquisite Three-Lobed Platanus Leaf With Petiole
Stock Number  FPUPW05

Name:   Platanus wyomingensis
Age:  Eocene
Formation:  Green River
Location:  Near Bonanza, Utah
Size:  Leaf is 2.9 inches long including petiole.

This is an excellent specimen of Platanus wyomingensis, a sycamore, from the Green River Formation. This specimen is very unusual in the fact that, even though it is complete, it has only three lobes instead of the usual five lobes. The fossil leaf shows the venation quite nicely. The leaf displays a nice, long petiole. The specimen has great color and contrast. The leaf is well centered on the natural matrix plate. This is a highly unusual occurrence of Platanus from the Eocene of Wyoming.
