Name:
Fossil Seed Fern Branch
Age: Pennsylvanian
Formation: Llewellyn
Location: St. Clair, Pennsylvania
Size: Plate is 3" X 7"
This is an intact branch of seed ferns from the Coal Deposits of Pennsylvania. The seed ferns are preserved as a thin film of white pyrophyllite on black shale. The branch has many leaflets still attached to the stem, which is unusual. There are also other seed ferns preserved on the plate. This is a fine example of a branch of fossil seed ferns.
