Unique Specimen With Two Different Pennsylvanian Plants
Stock Number  FPK02

Name:   Annularia sp. & Neuropteris sp.
Age:  Pennsylvanian
Formation:  Tonganoxie Sandstone
Location:  Ottawa, Kansas
Size:  Matrix plate is approximately 3.0" X 4.0".

This is a very interesting specimen of "Coal Age" plants from Kansas. The specimen on the left is Annularia sp. Annularia represents the leaf whorls found at the nodes of Calamites plants. The radiating leaves are very distinct in this specimen. The fossil on the right is Neuropteris sp. This is a seed fern. The venation is quite evident in this specimen. Both fossils have good color and nice contrast with the matrix. The plants are nicely centered on the sandstone block. This specimen was recently obtained from an old collection. This is a nice association plate of two different plants from the Pensylvanian of Kansas.
