Name:
Ulmus sp.
Age: Miocene
Formation: Unknown
Location: Germany
Size: Leaf is 2.8 inches long
Here is an uncommon specimen of Ulmus sp. from an unusual location. This fossil elm leaf is from the Miocene of Germany. The leaf exhibits fine detail. The serrated margins of the leaf are wonderfully displayed and the alternate secondary venation is easily seen. The short petiole is still attached to the leaf. This fossil has good color and contrast and is nicely positioned on the rectangular plate of matrix. This is a very good example of a scarce fossil elm leaf.
