Excellent Annularia in Siderite Concretion
Stock Number  PJM2

Name:   Annularia sp.
Age:  Pennsylvanian
Formation:  Braidwood
Location:  Johnson County, Missouri
Size:  Concretion is 1.8 inches long

This is a nice example of the Pennsylvanian plant, Annularia sp., from Johnson County, Missouri. Annularia are leaf whorls found at the joints of the Calamites plant. These plant remains are found inside a siderite concretion. Both halves of the concretion are present so you receive both part and counterpart. This fossil displays two of these leaf whorls. The dark brown fossil contrasts very nicely with the lighter colored concretion. This is a very nice example of this 300 Million Year Old plant.
