Very Fine Leaf From Keaki Tree - With Mosquitoes
Stock Number  FPUZE01

Name:   Zelkova nervosa
Age:  Eocene
Formation:  Green River
Location:  Near Bonanza, Utah
Size:  Leaf is 2.0 inches long.

This is a fine, complete specimen of a leaf from the keaki tree. This is Zelkova nervosa from the Eocene of Utah. The lanceolate leaf has great color and superb contrast. It sits on a natural plate of shale matrix. The venation is quite evident. The dentate margins are very distinct. There are also several nice mosquitoes preserved on the plate. This is a very nice example of Zelkova from the Green River Formation. The association of the leaf with the insects makes for an interesting story.
